Zippy Zen builds and maintains its flagship product Zippy Meals, a software system that helps Meals on Wheels operations run more efficiently. Zippy Meals is web-based, it manages clients and their schedules, volunteers and their schedules, and provides robust route management.

Currently provide contractual software development support for various organizations, focusing on big data analytics.

Provided software development support for the START-X DIA contract. Previously worked on the Futures-INSCOM contract. Helped to build a virtual testing environment using VirtualBox and Vagrant. Improved performance of a web application by refactoring several Javascript modules. Helped to add a high-performance geosearch capability on a Hadoop/Accumulo stack.

Provided onsite software development services to the National Ground Intelligence Center for the Combat Incident Analysis Division (CIAD). Built custom software solutions for a worldwide collection of analysts using PHP, Javascript, and Oracle. Performed the duties of the main Oracle DBA and lead developer on a team of ten developers. Worked closely with requirements analysts to define, implement, and satisfy customer requirements.

Performed the roles of project manager, product owner, and lead developer for a six-person development team that built customized bioinformatics software solutions for various government clients. Interfaced directly with customers on a weekly basis, established requirements with customers through user stories, and managed customer expectations to ensure satisfaction of the products. Primary actions and accomplishments in this position were the following:Spent one year as a Requirements Analyst on a $1.2 million dollar project. Performed use case modeling and analysis, wrote detailed use cases, and worked weekly with the customer to ensure requirements were being met. Received an Outstanding Performance Award for my role on this project.Also led the development of a bioinformatics application written in PHP, Java, and Javascript. Wrote various aspects of the user interface using Swing and wrote the biology related functionality using BioJava, a Java-based bioinformatics library. Wrote other aspects of the application in PHP and used Javascript extensively for AJAX and user interface enhancements. Used MySQL for all data storage for the application.Spent one year writing a C#.NET that wraps the functionality of a third-party COM interface to a chemical engineering application. The C#.NET library enabled client applications to automate the execution of the chemical engineering application, saving analysts hundreds of hours of manual data entry. Also wrote a data access layer to automate the input of data.

Provided contractual software development to the Army’s Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. Upgraded existing sensor science software package using Visual Basic 6, added ActiveX controls, and improved the installation in InstallShield. Also wrote a targeting simulation in Flash and Actionscript that was included as part of a computer-based training system.
