Ensured testing equipment was properly maintained.
Vibration Test Engineer
Conducted sine sweep, sine burst, sine dwell and random vibration tests on parts and equipment used for manned space flight in Vibration and Acoustic Test Facility (VATF) at Johnson Space Center. Supervised technicians for correct set up of instrumentation and test articles were properly mounted. Ensured test hardware equipment was properly maintained. Troubleshot hardware as needed.
Systems Integration/Test Engineer Staff
Test and Verification Lead for the Landing and Recovery System (LRS) for the Orion project. Review vendor test plans to make sure Landing and Recovery System components are being tested to NASA and Lockheed Martin standards for development, qualification and acceptance. Conduct test readiness reviews. Participate in milestone reviews. Attend tests for LRS components. Present subcomponent acceptance and qualification test plans to the Verification Engineering Working Group (VEWG). Was Lockheed Martin test lead for drop tests, environmental tests, and test firings for the pilot mortars for PA-1.
Mechanical Engineer - Staff
Researched, planed, designed and developed mechanical products and systems, such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Test and research supported F-16, F-22 and F-35 aircraft programs.
Aeronautical Engineer - Staff
Project lead for impact sensor system used to detect debris impacts on leading edge of Space Shuttle wing following Columbia accident. Built team to collect, catalog and analyze data from testing sites at testing sites nationwide. • Performed impact analyses on data that determined patterns and algorithms to detect future impact to Shuttle, potentially saving vehicle and crew. Instrumentation and algorithms developed during tests were used on future Shuttle flights of what became Wing Leading Edge Impact Detection System (WLEIDS).• Collected data, using Telemetry, on production system, working with engineering staff from multiple companies and personnel of all levels, including union and nonunion employees. • Wrote and presented technical briefings to Impact Penetration Sensor System Team for monthly technical interchange meetings, as well as to NASA and Lockheed-Martin management.• Awarded “The Silver Snoopy”, presented to less than 1% of workforce, for all efforts surrounding WLEIDS project.
Aeronautical Engineer
Volunteered for temporary duty assignment at Lockheed Martin’s Fort Worth facility as test engineer. Tests were completed with minimal supervision.• Conducted sub-sonic and super-sonic wind tunnel tests on probe designs developed for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) F-35 aircraft.• Developed tests to simulate temperature effects of Integrated Power Unit (IPU) exhaust on vertical tail of F-35. Aided in development of in-house built wind tunnel used for test completion.
Engineer Associate
Gained experience with strain gauges and accelerometers while building up and conducting, sine sweep, random vibration and shock tests. Developed data acquisition system, and provided real-time support using telemetry during mission critical operations. Created manpower and cost estimates presented to management for thermal and thermal vacuum tests.• Assisted with development of data acquisition system developed for Space Shuttle Carbon Brake Stability Tests, supporting 192-inch dynamometer testing conducted at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Developed model to calculate Main Landing Gear (MLG) loads based on strain gage information, using Space Shuttle landing data.Manned Mechanical Systems console, in Mission Evaluation Room (MER), providing support during Space Shuttle launch, Payload Bay Door (PLBD) movement, Extra Vehicular Activities (EVA), Remote Manipulator Systems (RMS) operations and landing. Verified door, latch, landing gear, and tire pressures prelaunch. Anomalies were troubleshot real-time. Calculated brake energy after rollout, performing any necessary duties required by Mechanical Systems and Landing/Decal subsystem manager.Managed test cost and manpower estimates, test build-up, test completion and posttest reports, as Test Conductor for Crew and Thermal Systems Division (CTSD). Prepared and presented Test Readiness Review (TRR) presentations. Served as test lead for 3 thermal vacuum chamber tests in JSC Building 32, Chamber B, simulating plume effects on solar arrays in rarefied flow environment. Supported Space Shuttle and International Space Station flights with near real-time Shuttle plume and docking loads analysis, acquiring data in real time and post flight, solving issues relating to structures team. Determined trigger points to activate Stand Alone Accelerometer Measuring Device (SAAMD) for Space Shuttle launches and landings. This was the first time a SAAMD had been utilized on the Space Shuttle.
