Supports the CRO and provides leadership and oversight of the Risk Management Team, being responsible for the operations of the Asta Risk Function in the management of all Syndicates and Syndicates in-a-box (SIABs).Advises and challenges new and existing clients as well as Executive and senior Asta Management on risk matters. Responsible for the Validation of all Syndicates.Member of the Senior Management Team at Asta, assisting the Executive in running the business, being involved in a variety of areas including culture, assessments of prospective new clients, considering strategy and developing objectives for the business.

Led the Risk Function, reporting to the Executive Risk & Compliance Director. Ensured effective operation of the Risk Framework and the Functions engagement with the business, including leading on production of Risk Reporting, Risk Appetite, ORSAs, Risk Assessments and work on regulatory requirements such as the Climate Change and Operational Resilience requirements from the PRA.Acted as a key member of the Due Diligence Team, assessing legacy acquisition opportunities and producing Risk reports on each opportunity to the shareholders.Independent validator for the Lloyd’s Syndicate Models.Worked closely with the CEO, CFO & senior management, influencing at the Risk Committee, Board, Internal Model Committee and Validation Committee.

Work included a strategic Capital based project, writing ORSAs and strengthening Risk Reporting. Heavily involved in the Validation process, producing Validation Reports and sitting on the Validation Committee. Strengthening Internal Model governance including Model Output and Change Reports as well as rewriting all Model Policies.

Managed the Risk Analytics Team, reporting directly to the CRO whilst continuing to lead the Validation workstream. Developed Insurance risk reporting, Stress & Scenario testing, the Risk Appetite Framework and the Risk Function’s review of business plans. Co-produced a transformative ORSA and undertook Risk & Control and Special Risk assessments of business-critical projects. Presented reports at Board Level, regularly working with the C-suite and NEDs. Assisted the CRO in delivering the Risk Function’s annual plan and ran recruitment processes.Attended various Board-level and senior committees including the Risk & Compliance, Executive Risk, Reinsurance Security, Catastrophe Liquidity & Event Response and Model Governance Committees.Acted as the main liaison between my team and senior managers across the business bringing clarity to strategic decisions made by the business and departments. My teams provided challenge to ensure other departments processes were conducted and key business decisions made in an appropriate way, aligning with the Risk Framework and culture.

Led the Internal Model Validation Function, overhauling the process and designing tests to meet regulatory feedback / internal requirements. Managed the Validation Team including outsourced elements and authored the Validation Reports. Regular presentation of findings, key uncertainties and assumptions to the Board and Model Governance Committee.Seconded into the Exposure Management Team at a senior level for a period to improve processes and reporting, produce Policies & Reports and strengthen aspects of nat-cat model validation.

Led both the Capital Reporting & Development workstreams reporting to the Group Chief Actuary. Managed teams including qualified Actuaries, consultants & students. Key achievements include:- Overhauling the end-to-end Underwriter parameterisation process,- Integration of an ESG into the Internal Model,- Managing major Capital Modelling software/hardware upgrades,- Delivering a project to quantify non-modelled cats.- Designing key reports to communicate Model output to the Board and Senior Management.- Giving regular presentations and training to the Board and Board sub committees.

Main focus on Capital Modelling. Managed staff in the SCR process and assisted in Solvency II workstreams as well as the development / ongoing calibration of several pricing models.

Work in both the run-off and live sectors in the London Market for a wide client base with Partners and Directors. Projects included the building and parameterisation of Capital Models and regular reserve reviews.
