John Colombo is currently a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Verizon Communications based in Waltham, MA. John joined New England Telephone in 1987 and has worked in various network and technology organizations for the past 28 years within NYNEX, Bell Atlantic, and Verizon, where he currently works in the Wireline Standards and Technical Regulatory group within Corporate Network Technology. A contributor to ATIS, IETF, NRIC, as well as many other industry standards activities and state/federal regulatory initiatives, John has been recognized both as an active contributor and technical expert and has held various leadership positions for several ATIS subcommittees. John is currently a member of the ATIS Cybersecurity Ad Hoc Group and Cloud Services Forum (CSF), focusing on developing industry standards for security and cloud-based services, particularly IP video services, such as CDN and Telepresence, in support of Verizon’s cloud platform from both a business and technical perspective.John holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), both from Northeastern University.
