During the course of my career, I have served successfully in both the public and private sectors, including serving in a sub-cabinet position in the Administration of President Jimmy Carter. As a financial services industry executive, I have diverse experience and have successfully managed within every sector of the industry. My public service experience has been both elective and appointed and I have served on all levels of government, from local to national. The interaction between public policy/regulation and individual/corporate behavior is what excites me and why I remain interested and involved within both sectors of our economy.One of the more exciting areas of my work has been with members of the U.S. Military and our veterans through a contractual relationship with the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense. Through this aspect of my work, I have been able to help bring financial and behavioral stability to those who serve and have served our Nation throughout the world.As my career has progressed, I have added academic and international components, focused on organizational and employee behavior, particularly in the area of pension and employee benefits decision-making. My academic research has explored the global paradigm shift in pensions from employers to employees. The primary focus of my current business is protecting employer/employee retirement contributions from plan and personal risk.Non-profit, community and voluntary service are very important to me and I am an active officer and member of many local and national organizations, focused on international relations, poverty, religion, politics, and financial education. I hold an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force.I also serve on several State of Washington boards and committees.

He successfully ran the bank through September of 1986 and remained a director through 1992 when the Bank was sold. He also started up a and managed the securities broker/dealer which offered investment services through the Bank.

The corporate focus was on assisting small to medium size banks develop and manage an investment advisory and securities brokerage business. The firm also developed a retail division that was located in several South Florida shopping malls. The business was sold to Network One Financial in 1989.

Working with the FDIC, the Massachusetts Legislature and the State Banking Department, we were able to convert the charter into a full bank and trust company charter, functioning as an innovate and socially responsible community bank. The Bank was sold to Century BankCorp.

Interim President And CeoThe National Cooperative Bank 1978 - 1981Mr. Comerford was appointed by President Carter to develop and to be the first President of this unique US Government financed nationwide bank that was created to provide specialized banking services to the housing, healthcare and other cooperative business and consumer sectors that had limited access to credit facilities. With the help of a very talented task force and staff, he started the Bank from scratch and left in 1981 when the Carter Administration ended. The Coop Bank today stands as a model for public/private banking.
