Manage day-to-day operations in the Machine Shop, coordinate production control, program parts for CNC operations, supervise and train employees, manage scheduling, and order tools and supplies for the shop.

Duties include, but are not limited to: I program manufacturing operations for lathes (Mazaks with milling capability, one twin turret-twin spindle 8 axis Ganesh lathe, one twin spindle, gantry tooling 7 axis Ganesh) using CAD/CAM software, and I tool the jobs for those lathe operations. This company primarily manufactures medical components (equipment). I oversee production, schedule machines and operators for jobs in coordination with leads and the Department Manager. I request, based on need, the purchase of cutting tools and associated items. I ensure that personel are trained on the machines and equipment, I have improved cycle times and reduced costs considerably on many jobs by utilizing better cutting tool technologies for operations that needed it, by streamlining and standardizing operations, and by implementing procedures that improve the shop floor environment.

January 2008 to present: CNC Lathe and Mill Department Manager at Rubicon Gear, Inc. in Santa Ana, California.Duties include, but are not limited to: I program manufacturing operations for lathes and mills using CAD/CAM software, and I tool the jobs for those lathe and mill operations. This company manufactures flight control, flight actuation, landing gear, and power transmission components. I oversee production, schedule machines for jobs, and purchase cutting tools and associated items - (inspection gear, machine maintenance items, and other shop support items). I currently supervise 17 employees over two shifts and am responsible for hiring and training those employees as they progress at the company. During this time, I have improved cycle times and reduced costs considerably on many jobs by utilizing better cutting tool technologies for operations that needed it, by streamlining and standardizing operations, and by implementing procedures that improve the shop floor environment. (5S for one example)

January 2006 to December 2007: Lathe Lead Man to Plant Manager at GBF Enterprises in Santa Ana, California. I started in a Lathe Lead position and graduated to Plant Manager. I was responsible for setting up and getting into production, CNC Lathes, and CNC Mills. During that time I essentially taught myself how to program these machines using MasterCam software, with some tutoring from CAD/CAM Consulting in Aneheim. I also learned how to tool up jobs more effectively, and learned how to coordinate with applications engineers from various cutting tool manufacturers and distributors in order to more effectively use their products. I also learned about purchasing and inventory control to more effectively manage cutting tool usage. I built on the skills I had learned at my previous job.

March 1997 to December 2005: I started at O&S Precision, Inc. in the San Fernando valley as an entry level machine operator and graduated to Lathe Lead Man several years later. Duties included setting up lathes and then optimizing those subsequent machining operations. I was able to set up a wide mix of customer parts that would use a variety of materials. I put machines into operation after set-up, trained operators on running the machines, gave feedback to the programmer/supervisor, and was entrusted to run the more challenging jobs with more difficult to machine materials.
