In my position of Registered Manager at this privately owned nursing home, I managed the home from a situation in 1998 with poor occupation, poor income and poor clinical standards to become a profitable and well regarded service within two years.

I was Head of Care and led the residents, and the care and nursing team through a 4 year period of transition. The transition was twofold: First, the home had always been exempt from care homes regulations and this changed, bringing with it many clinical and cultural challenges. Second, the environment required a massively disruptive refurbishment and this had a major impact on residents and staff neither of which were much used to change even on a small level.
