Britannia hotels has recently bought the Royal Hotel previously owned by Focus Hotels. During the take over I played an integral part off the smooth handover.

Starting work at the Royal hotel in March as a Receptionist I was quickly promoted to the role of Reception Manager. Here I took control of employing a new reception team along with an intern and a work experience student and worked with them closely to develop their skills in reception and customer care. My main task as reception manager were completing all rotas for the upcoming week and making sure the desk was staffed appropriately and within budget, dealing with customers face to face or over the telephone, training all staff within my team and making sure the guests had a pleasant stay at the hotel. My additional roles involved wedding show rounds, reservations, accounts and helping at the bar when needed.Working as the reception manager I have to use a variety of computer systems including Microsoft packages, Fourth HR Management and Protel which is the hotels CRM system.Whilst working on reception I became very involved with conferences so I was asked to take over the department as my main role within the hotel. Managing a small team my main duties are to make sure that all conferences and events at the hotel run smoothly. This may only be a small meeting of three people, a large conference off 300 or a wedding/private function. Attention to detail is the most important part of this role as conferences/events adhere to very strict timings and if these are missed it can throw the event out of sync. By taking an enthusiastic management method of working I try to lead by example and adhere to the standards that are set by the Mercure/Accor head office. My primary responsibilities are to facilitate the smooth running of the office by managing the administrative staff and assessors, organising and maintaining both the logistics and calendar management for the business as well as report generation and schematics. My primary responsibilities are to facilitate the smooth running of the office by managing the administrative staff and assessors, organising and maintaining both the logistics and calendar management for the business as well as report generation and schematics. My additional roles involve dealing with external customers on a day to day basis both for logistic planning and any enquiries/complaints, managing the procurement and installation of office IT and telephony infrastructure as well as liaising with our third party IT support team. Other roles I am involved with on a less frequent basis are HR management (including staff appraisals, discipline and recruitment), Office accounting/budgeting and liaising with the accountants, organising third party contractors, and chairing meetings with the Sales team and company directors. I am fully experienced with Microsoft Office applications, using Word, Excel and Outlook on a daily basis. I have implemented and maintained a complex filing system, and have the ability to delegate tasks to my admin assistant as necessary whilst ensuring they are able to manage the workload. During the recent installation of our new IT infrastructure I also dealt with the organisation of all IT training requirements for staff members. Show less
