Responsible for the delivery of assigned projects to clients' pre-determined expectations. This involves ensuring that the technical output of the project team complies with company standards and best industry practice. The role contributes to optimising the profitability of the profit centre by ensuring that resources are used effectively and work efficiently. Also responsible for undertaking negotiations with Roads Authorities and liaising with the client’s design team.Following graduation from Glasgow College of Technology (Caledonian University) in 1988, John commenced his engineering career as a Senior Technician at JMP Consultants, progressing to Consultant at Faber Maunsell (AECOM) in 1999 and Engineer at URS in 2002 where he both managed projects and was team leader for the Transport Planning section in the Glasgow Office. He joined Boreham Consulting Engineers in 2006 as a Senior Engineer, prior to the purchase by Waterman Group, gaining Principal Engineer status in 2015. John also headed the Traffic Signal Design specialist group in Glasgow providing a service to highway design teams throughout the UK that also provides support to specialist contractors.John joined Fairhurst in July 2019 as a Principal Transport Planner, he has had extensive involvement in all aspects of Transport Assessments managing projects for developments and proposals throughout the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, working for both private and public sector clients.John was elected Member of the IHT in 2003 which has been transferred to the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation, he has also been a graduate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers since 1991.Specialisms: Transportation PlanningTraffic Signal Design and InstallationMicrosimulation Modelling (Paramics)
