I have taken on a variety of challenges and roles that have provided skills and knowledge in areas such as financial management, management of change, project management, process safety leadership, personal safety leadership, learning and development, continuous improvement and industrial relations.Refinery assets/plants I have directly managed, Crude Distillation, Vacuum Distillation, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Alkylation, Polymerization, Refinery Fuel Gas, Flare systems and Waste Water Treatment Plant.Key Accountabilities:- Create and steward a strong organisational safety culture to ensure incident free operations.- Ensure that all activities having an environmental impact are managed in a way to meet the requirements of the Refinery license and Environmental law. .- Manage routine maintenance, ‘On the Run’ T&I work, and Regenerations in the Area within the OPEX budget.- Act as Decision Executive or Decision Review Board member on assigned projects and champion Capital Stewardship Organisational Capability (CSOC) principles to ensure the projects are managed effectively.- Ensure variables affecting plant throughput and yields are properly monitored and initiate proactive action. - Ensure there is Production Department input to successfully complete Process Hazards Analyses (PHA) as required on each process plant in the Area and that action items arising from these PHAs are planned and completed per the timetable in the Business plan.- Monitor and control Production management systems, and correct if necessary, to manage Refinery Operator work time, leave liability, quality documentation review, Refinery Technician training and re-certification.- Implement the Caltex Performance Management system for all direct reports and ensure Personal Management Plan, Position Description, and Development Agreements are in place and reviewed as required.

Aspects from Projects that I have Lead:- Identify process improvements/investments that improve productivity and contribute to a reduction in production cost - Analyse the complexity and productivity of all existing plant operating consoles and define options and associated requirements for console consolidation.- Analyse support systems and identify areas of improvement- Compare productivity against industry benchmarks to identify latent capacity and identify low cost/ no cost and simple improvements for early implementation.- Identify costs and enablers such as human factors, control room layout etc for consolidation options - Develop a number of alternative organisational models that may be applied to the Production Department - with objective to (a) optimise manning (i.e. Award and Non-award) and (b) improve departmental productivity and line accountability during normal, abnormal and emergency situations.- Relocate field based operations personnel including work processes from the current Satellite Control Rooms into a Centralised Control Building. To reduce the risk of injury/death from satellite control building collapse as a result of a vapour cloud explosion following a major loss of containment of propane/butane within their relevant process plant plot.- Enterprise Agreement outcome - Develop and implement an alternate Area Shift Manager structure (models) - with objective to (a) provide an increase for available Production manning (i.e. Award and Non-award) and (b) maintain and/or improve departmental productivity and line accountability.

Key accountabilities:- Promote and participate in the use of Caltex safety systems, such as Loss Prevention System and Incident Injury Free principles.- Co-ordinate Process Plant shutdown (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Plants, High Pressure Boilers, Gas Plants, Flare systems) and start- ups by providing direction to the Area Shift Managers (ASM) and their work teams to ensure equipment is either taken off line and placed back on line in a safe and efficient manner.- Supervise the Process Plant Technicians to ensure field work for Projects and T&I planning is completed per schedule - Assist with efficient routine maintenance planning by reviewing work requests, co-ordinating Production input into maintenance work and ensuring work has approval to proceed within OPEX budgeting constraints.- Identify opportunities to improve the utilisation of the assets to maximise production and ensure Production planning targets are achieved.- Participate as the Production subject matter expert on project teams and, following the CPDEP process, assist with the progression of CAPEX proposals through to completion and commissioning.- Support Process Safety Management (PSM) by, participation in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and completing assigned actions as scheduled, adhering to the Management of Change process and ensure Pre Start-up Safety Reviews are completed before plant/equipment start-up. Review minutes of shift safety meetings, safety audits, safety equipment checks and following up with any issues raised.- Act as Production representative on Plant Turnarounds & Inspections, tank repairs, regenerations, plant shutdowns and slowdowns and co-ordinate Production input to planning and processes such as IMPACT.- Co-ordinate the development of quality documents for Production such as Process Descriptions, Operating Procedures, Standing Orders, Shutdown and Start up procedures, and ensure all quality documents are reviewed and updated per the four year quality cycle.

Key accountabilities- Review and update existing procedures and develop new procedures that form the Occupational Health and Management System in line with legislative compliance and best practice.- Provide expert OH&S guidance and assistance to operations and maintenance groups with incident investigations and the development of corrective action plans. - Develop and implement strategic OH&S awareness packages and training programs to mitigate health and safety risks to personnel in the Refineries.- Provide OHS technical expertise, and coordinate all health and safety functions relating to the planning and implementation of major Turnaround and Inspection (T&I) projects within the Refineries. - Conduct routine OH&S inspections and audits within the refineries to monitor and address compliance with OHS legislation, and correct application of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.- Compile and report back to Refineries’ management the OH&S performance in both leading and lagging indicators for the refineries.- Maintenance and review of the Hazardous Substance Inventory Management Program for the refinery. - Oversee the Refineries’ Occupational Hygiene monitoring and assessment program.- Oversee the Refineries’ Noise Management monitoring and assessment program.- Provide OHS technical expertise to the OHS committee, PPE committee, and Asbestos committee.- Coordinate weekly Operational Excellence meetings for all site managers and supervisors which address Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk issues within the refinery.- Schedule, coordinate and facilitate the delivery of the Safety & Security Site Induction Training to all site personnel prior to them commencing work and the Refineries in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System. - Maintain material & service orders in SAP as required for payment of invoices in a timely manner.
