Sr. Npi Electrical Engineer
Designing, prototyping, validating, deploying, and maintaining electronic test equipment used in the screening and validating of Intuitive products at the system, sub-assembly, and PCA levels.
Senior Electrical Engineer
I designed schematics and PCB layouts in EAGLE for multiple PCBs used for in-house designed 3D printers and a space-based optic fiber manufacturing module. I wrote firmware to control and interface with the various peripherals and sensors used in the in-house designed 3D printers and a space-based optic fiber manufacturing module. This includes stepper motor drivers, linear actuators, heater elements, PID temperature controls, load cells, current and voltage sensors, linear array light sensor, pressure sensor, humidity sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. I support build activities with making cables and troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues.
Test Engineer (Contractor)
I reviewed nonconforming miraDry productions units (medical device that uses RF energy to treat overproduction of underarm sweat) and troubleshot at the system and board level. After finding the root cause I made recommendations for repair and re-test. I documented all steps taken to bring the unit into conformance.
Verification And Validation Engineer (Contractor)
I performed software verification testing for a client’s medical device. I reviewed and edited drafts of the test protocols. I performed dry run and formal testing per the test protocols.
Senior Hardware Test Engineer
● For the Intellimax product (Commercial optical and radio communication device), I used Python to automate the programming and bring-up of the Intellimax main control PCBA, reducing cycle time from 45 minutes to 12 minutes.● I performed debug on 4 of the 5 main boards within the Intellimax product when they were failing board level test at the CM. These PCBs have AC/DC and DC/DC power converters, thermistor connections, ADCs, DACs, RF components, digital and analog circuits.● I also trained the CM technicians on board level testing for 3 of the 5 main Intellimax PCBs.● For the Stratus product (handheld biometrics tool that performs iris capture and fingerprint), I led a cross-functional team to develop system and board level test stations for. I created schematics and followed-up with other team members that had responsibilities over mechanical, optics, and software.● I documented test stations for both Intellimax and Stratus, which included creating BOMs, drawings, and test procedures.● For the InSight product (Iris capture device that can capture an iris image located anywhere in a 1 cubic meter volume), I performed design verification and thermal testing at system and board level.● I wrote a test script that communicated with a frequency response analyzer through the GPIB port and used it log the frequency response of the fast-steering mirror used in InSight.● When an IC on the LED control board for InSight was reaching end of life, I found a replacement component that required a minor redesign. I did cost and risk analysis for the redesign and then performed the work for the redesign.● I supported product compliance efforts for InSight, Stratus, and Intellimax by going onsite to compliance test labs for lab testing and also performed testing in-house.
Sustaining Engineer
● I supported in-house manufacturing and customer repair departments for Snap-on’s handheld automotive diagnostic tools. I trained technicians on system level testing of three new diagnostic tools and I performed semi-annual software updates for entire diagnostic product line. I also repaired test fixtures, helped debug new test fixtures, updated test procedures, and reviewed failures for trends.● I supported the contract manufacturer by training technicians on board level tests for new diagnostic tools and debugging test stations.● I led a team to reduce costs on the Ethos diagnostic product by 8%.● I approved first article electronic assemblies.● I received a Basic training certification in LabVIEW.
Electrical Engineer
● I designed a CAN bus architecture for an inkjet printer with 2m x 2m print surface. I created schematics for three different boards that included PIC microcontrollers (PIC18F6680, PIC18F4480) and wrote the software for the microcontrollers in C. These boards connected to position sensors, fluid sensors, ADCs, and DACs.● Prior to designing the CAN bus architecture I created a prototype to demonstrate the technology to the company executives to get their buyoff. I did the prototype programming in PIC assembly and used a breadboard to put the circuit together.● I tested, debugged, and reworked PCB assemblies used in the inkjet printer.● I supported printer builds with building of cables, creation of cable drawings, and electrical debugging.● I provided on-site field support for printer installations in Japan and Korea.
Hardware Engineer
● I re-wrote the FPGA firmware in VHDL (memory controller) for a legacy product with theresult of an 8X increase in data throughput.● I assisted in the transfer of documentation from Data Transit to Finisar’s documentationsystem.
Hardware Engineer
● I designed a 272 channel traffic generator that was used to verify the design of the nextgeneration bus analyzer. I created the schematic, did the PCB layout, and wrote the firmwarefor the FPGA in Verilog. I also wrote software in C++ that performed design verificationtesting.● I did new PCB layouts and re-spins for multiple bus specific modules that includedmultilayered boards (8 layers or more), high speed bus, length matching, and matchedimpedance requirements. Along with these PCB layouts I would also create BOMdocumentation and required drawings.
Engineering Intern
I took an existing schematic for a 1394/FireWire module to a bus analyzer and made some minorupdates. I also designed the PCB layout from scratch for the module. I wrote protocol decodingsoftware for the FireWire module in C++ along with a GUI interface within the existing busanalyzer software. I performed testing and debugging as necessary to verify functionality.http://data-transit.com/products/busdr_pod_1394a.html
