John is a highly motivated and driven psychologist currently working in both private and contracted roles. He is a registered psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society and EMDR association of Australia. John holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland with additional tertiary qualifications in psychology, leadership and management, and business. John is trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other evidenced based psychotherapies. He is passionate about providing culturally appropriate and safe health services to all people, with a particular interest in rural and remote populations.John's experience includes a range of roles in both private and public psychological practice, and the Australian Defence Force (ADF). He currently runs his own private practice, Self-Led Psychology, where he provides individual psychotherapy with a focus on posttraumatic stress disorder from single event trauma (PTSD), complex trauma (C-PTSD), as well as dissociative disorders and a broad spectrum of mood disorders including depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. He is dedicated to providing quality care and support to his clients.In addition to his private practice, John works as a contracted psychologist for Serco Australia, providing individual psychotherapy to serving members of the ADF, including assessment and intervention for a wide range of presenting problems. In this role, John works as part of a mixed health discipline team, including medical doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, and occupational therapists in a shared care model of health support.Prior to his work in psychology, John served in the Australian Defence Force as an Explosive Ordnance Reconnaissance Technician and Combat Engineer for over 16 years. During his time in the military, John was deployed to Afghanistan twice as an Engineer high-risk search team member and search team commander, receiving numerous military honors and awards for his exemplary service.
