I’m proud to be an HR practitioner. I always thought my interest in audio, print and visual media would take me down one of these routes but then I found my real interest in people. I love to understand people; where they’re from, their experiences and how they have been shaped into the person they are today. I want to understand before being understood. This is the same for organisations I work with, I want to know the history, business context and where they want to go. By understanding the unique circumstances, I then tailor practical HR solutions to the challenges they face. My career in HR has taken me across different roles in different organisations, industries and sectors. Some have required me to develop new policies and procedures. Some have asked to manage complex casework (and attend Tribunals). Some have asked me to review performance management tools. Some have asked me to create and shape an Engagement strategy. Regardless of the task, at the heart of all this are the people and the ones who are ultimately responsible for success. I want us all to succeed and with my strengths in communication, listening and coaching, I work to bring out the best in people and add value for an organisation.
