I’m focussed on the importance of good governance, culture and tone at the top in delivering trust and growth in business. Having retired recently after 37 years with KPMG, I am looking to develop NED or governance roles in organisations with a strong growth or transformation agenda.Having sat on both sides of the boardroom table as a Lead Audit Partner and as a commercial CFO for two FTSE consumer goods businesses, I have a unique perspective on the operational and financial challenges facing business. I have extensive experience in working with companies executing change and transformation programs, where I’ve been able to leverage deep financial risk and control experience and commercial awareness.I have a strong understanding of governance frameworks, the roles and responsibilities of Board and Executive leadership in managing risk and opportunities and the importance of appropriate organisational values, ethics and tone at the top. I led the Global Quality & Compliance Review Program for KPMG International, where I was responsible for quality and compliance by network firms and also had oversight of the risk relationship for a number of firms in the EMA region. I have considerable experience in challenging and managing stakeholders and understanding complex relationships, with a focus on accountability and timely action.I have a deep interest in and awareness of Japan from a personal and business perspective. I was seconded to KPMG Japan for 4 years, led KPMG UK’s Japanese Practice for 12 years and was Lead Partner for substantial Japanese Audit and Advisory clients in EMA.My non-executive experience includes serving on the Audit Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
