• Provide expert technical knowledge to staff and pupils.• Run and maintain department CAD/CAM facilities.(Laser Cutter, CNC Mill)• Support and train staff in the use of these CAD/CAM facilities.• Procure and oversee installation of new machine tools and dust extraction.• Assist with the design and development of varied and engaging projects that meet curriculum requirements.• Represent the department as a member of the Health, Safety and Well-being Committee.• Manage department budget and resources.• Maintain machine and hand tools.

• 3D modelling of architectural steelwork using PTC Pro-Engineer/Creo.• Producing general arrangements, part lists and detailed part drawings for proposal and manufacture.• Regular liaison with architects, surveyors and structural engineers to ensure projects are on schedule and meet specification.• Issuing and revising drawings to company document control procedures.

• Providing first level (telephone & email) I.T. support. Documenting, recording & resolving problems using Novell remote administration software.• Second level face-to-face hardware and software support, on-site and in the university I.T. support centre.

• Technical design of bespoke handmade kitchens and furniture.• Produce technical drawings from design sketches using Vectorworks.• Close liaison with the sales team to advise on changes.• Regular communication with manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible.• Working within both an office environment and from home.
