Mr. Damm manages the geotechnical aspects of power projects, both nuclear and fossil, including developing subsurface exploration programs. originating and checking calculations, coordinating budgets and schedules with the project, providing technical oversight and inspections in the field, and supporting associated client and public informational meetings and audits. He has also supported mining and metal projects in Guinea, West Africa and Bharain providing construction inspection of pile installations and subsurface investigations.

Galveston, Texas

Mr. Damm managed and conducted geotechnical analyses for coastal studies including levees, breakwaters, jetties, and dredge disposal facilities. Analyses included riprap design, slope stability, and levee foundation design on soft ground. He also developed and executed drilling and testing contracts both onshore and offshore and wrote technical documents including dredge material management plans, design document reports, and engineering appendices for feasibility studies.

Baltimore, Maryland

Mr. Damm managed the geotechnical work for the Baltimore office of this multi-discipline engineering company. As project engineer, he managed and directed the geotechnical engineering portion of projects for various local and state governmental agencies and interface with other engineering disciplines within the company. Projects included rehabilitation of earthen and rubble fill dams, foundation design for shallow and deep foundations for multi-story buildings and bridges, evaluation of karst features, and pavement design. Foundations included large diameter caissons, precast concrete piles, and H-piles. Field work included logging drilling activities for field explorations; construction inspection during installation of large diameter caissons, construction inspection during dam rehabilitation including installation of abutment filters and drains and toe drains; and construction inspection for installation of high capacity post-tensioned anchors for rehabilitation of a concrete dam. Mr. Damm also contributed to proposal preparation, specification writing, and bidding document preparation.

Columbia, Maryland

Mr. Damm joined the company while completing his Master's degree at the University of Maryland. He initially worked as a field inspector on earthwork projects and a soils and concrete laboratory technician. Upon completion of his MS in Civil Engineering, Mr. Damm continued with the company as a project engineer. He oversaw geotechnical exploration programs, managed and directed various geotechnical projects and compiled engineering reports. Studies included dam rehabilitation, shallow and deep foundation analysis, settlement analysis, retaining walls, slope stability, reinforced slopes, pavement design, and ground improvement.

Seattle, Washington

Mr. Damm was a commissioned officer on a 250-ft hydrographic survey ship working along the coastlines of Alaska. His roles included: 1) ship’s officer responsible for the safe navigation, anchoring and docking of the ship with its 65-man crew; 2) surveyor and party chief, responsible for developing and implementing geodetic and hydrographic surveys, 3) ships diver, responsible for underwater inspections and surveys and tide gage installations. Fieldwork included surveying with optical and electronic instruments, calibrations of survey equipment, small boat handling, reconnaissance of old survey stations, performing underwater surveys and explorations, and installing tidal gages. He also managed technical support personnel, processed field data, drafted technical reports, and reviewed data plots. At the time of Mr. Damm's honorable discharge he had achieved the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.
