I am a Virginia-based lawyer, focused on employment law, appeals, and high-stakes matters. I was initially trained as a corporate employment and appellate lawyer with one of the largest firms in the United States. I then formed my own firm with another lawyer and began representing individuals. I handle matters involving: 1. Employment Law. I handle matters involving wrongful discharge, unfair discipline, harassment, FMLA violations, executive employment contracts, non-competes and non-solicits, employment counseling, severance agreements, unpaid compensation and overtime, and many others. 2. Appeals. I have pursued appeals in the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the Virginia Court of Appeals regarding a wide variety of cutting-edge legal issues, including summary judgment, spoliation of evidence, vicarious liability, wrongful discharge, federal criminal law, challenges to local court rules, and many others.3. Healthcare Professionals. I assist doctors and other healthcare providers in a variety of matters, including employment contracts, non-competes, internal investigations, and Board of Medicine and other DHP investigations.4. High-Stakes Matters. High-stakes matters involve cases that may change the direction of someone’s education, career, or life. They can come from any number of vectors. High-stakes matters I handle include helping people in Title IX hearings, assisting lawyers facing Virginia State Bar investigations, representing physicians with drug diversion problems, and assisting material witnesses and targets of federal grand juries.
