I tried to bring a very marginal player in the print business into the 1990s (Heck, I'd have been happy just to get them to the 80s) and couldn't do it in the time I had.

As a contractor, I got to work side-by-side with my dearest friend, Ben Slick (what a great name for a sales wiz), and help right The Company's manufacturing and distribution arms. I got to work for a great guy, Lou Ryan.

Ran all aspects of the operations side of the fulfillment and software kitting business--including HR and facilities.Reported to the company president, Bill George, an exceptionally fine leader and person. It was just time for me to get back to the mid-west.

What a great place to start a professional career. USS had outstanding managers and I was mentored by the best. I had the largest US territory, selling just over $100MM in 1986. The industry was rapidly imploding and I wanted to get out of "Dodge" before the big crash.
