Trained as an engineer, practiced in adapting to any work, and forever seeking growth.My core values are to serve both the community and environment, utilizing my passion for sustainability and my training in mechanical engineering. Through extensive schooling, teaching, research, service and outdoor jobs, I have learned that I am happiest and most productive when I am inspired and challenged by my work. Some of my strengths that I enjoy exercising include the following:1. Problem solving -- I love finding solutions. From graduate research at Brown University in microfluidics to figuring out a better way to store coffee mugs in a pantry, I constantly strive to improve my environment.2. Teaching -- I love sharing, especially knowledge. I've always been a quick study and have frequently found myself in formal and informal teaching roles. Some include Teaching Assistant positions (Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics courses), outdoor education positions (e.g. backpacking, canoeing, sailing), and as a primary school teacher in Thailand.3. Communication -- I love empathizing and listening. Even without formal training in Thai or Spanish, I effectively communicated while living in Thailand and while working with Spanish-speakers on a farm. I achieved this through a strong desire to understand and be understood... and a heaping dose of humility.4. Conscientiousness -- I love to do things right, always striving to perform at 100%. For me, agreeing to take on a job, no matter its "occupational prestige", means that I will do my best.
