John is a lawyer, having spent over 32 years focused on ASEAN regional investment and M&A activity, particularly in energy, resources and Infrastructure. John was based in South East Asia from1989 to 2020, living in Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and working throughout South East Asia, where he was a partner at several international law firms. He moved to Perth in August of 2020 and in 2021 established AustAsean Law as an Australian based, ASEAN focused, legal consultancy business. He is also a Foreign Law Consultant at Dentons Rodyk & Davidson LLP, the Singapore office of global law firm Dentons.John is a current board member and Honorary Secretary of AustCham ASEAN. He is also a Past President of AustCham Singapore, being made an honorary life member in June 2008. He helped establish and was the first President of what is now called AusCham Vietnam (life member, 2000). He also was involved in the establishment and was the first chairman of Australian Business Asia, a grouping of 17 regional Australian Business Councils and Chambers in Asia. John is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
