I have more than 20 years of experience in a structured work environment with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and over 10 years of experience as the both the Lead Technician and Chief Electrical Supervisor. My primary duties included the repair and maintenance of all primary and secondary electrical and propulsion systems. I supervised system repairs to component level conducted by as many as 19 subordinate electricians. This required me to have a working knowledge of diesel-powered primary movers, in both engine and turbine applications, as well as power distribution systems monitored and controlled by digital HMI displays. I supervised the training of the electrical division for plant equipment qualification processes, casualty control response, general and electrical safety, and oversaw board qualification processes. For the last 5 years I have managed the engineering plants of multiple $500 million, 420 ft. security class USCG cutters (W.M.S.L.) for multi-mission deployments around the world. I have formal training in PLC applications, Rockwell Automation systems / ladder logic, HMI application for industrial use, main diesel engine and turbine monitoring systems and their scheduled maintenance. Also, I’m familiar with 440v 60hz power generation systems and sub systems, low voltage D.C. systems, low pressure steam boilers, and both digital and analog controllers. I managed successful divisions and qualified 75 technicians. Additionally, I was responsible for individualized training, performance evaluations, recommendations for advancement, discipline, and morale. In my position as Chief Electrical Supervisor I was responsible for repair prioritization, budgeting, verbal and written communication with superiors. My professional expertise meshes directly with the responsibilities outlined in the solicitation for plant supervisor. In my role as Chief Electrical Supervisor for the USCG I proved to be efficient through my teamwork, effective at problem solving, and adaptable through superior performance under pressure, all while demonstrating strong leadership skills. My accomplishments are reflected in multiple commendations, years of exemplary service evaluations, and successful missions, both strategically for the unit as well as functionally for the engineering division. My time spent with the Coast Guard has prepared me for such an opportunity, and I sincerely hope I can contribute soon as a member of your team.
