John has been involved in the upstream oil and gas industry for over 35 years and has over 25 years’ experience with cyclone based process separation technologies including oil and water treatment, solids handling and gas liquid separation systems. He started his career with Esso Australia Ltd., and has held senior management positions in engineering consultancy and equipment service companies in the USA, Australia and Asia. John has been involved in all aspects of the process separation technologies business from concept engineering, product development, field testing and commissioning, project management and supply of integrated process packages, to marketing and sales.John’s expertise has revolved around a number of significant 'firsts' with Deoiler hydrocyclone technologies in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. He commissioned the first multi-barrel Deoiler hydrocyclone vessel arrangement in the Middle East, which allowed for a significant decrease in the size and weight, and a significant improvement in performance and flexibility. John initiated testing with the first small high efficiency Deoilers in natural pressure drive systems offshore, and onshore pumped applications. He was also involved in the first use of cyclone technology in dehydrating applications including the first field trials in Australia and the USA, and is the inventor of PACS (Packaged Active Cyclone Systems) which allows infinite on-line turndown of Deoiler hydrocyclone systems.John was involved in the industry development and commercialization of Desander solid liquid cyclones in the mid 1990's. This included conventional solids removal from produced water streams, to the R&D work and successful implimentation of solids removal from Wellhead and Multiphase fluid streams with the Wellhead Desander technology, and is today a leader in the field.
