I am responsible for the continued development and maintenance of strong and effective partnerships with key statutory and third sector organisations and people with sight loss to ensure the development and delivery of an extensive range of high impact services reflecting the needs of people with sight loss.I work closely with RNIB Cymru's partners to deliver high quality, sustainable services for people with sight loss. In South Wales this is primarily with Cardiff Institute for the Blind, which operates in the established South Wales localities of Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Merthyr Tydfil. In North Wales this is primarily with Vision Support and North Wales Society for the Blind.I am responsible for ensuring delivery on a Lottery Grant, Welsh Government Section 64 Grant, and local authority contracts.

Since moving out of full time politics, secured a number of consultancy roles within the Welsh public / government sector as well as working on a number of web projects for Design Stage.Provided consultancy support to ‘A Dignified Revolution’ which is a pressure group seeking funding from the Welsh Assembly. Assisted WLGA with European Social Fund bid to support its Healthy Ageing programme; developed / authored professional development materials on Corporate Parenting; and acted as Peer Assessor in WLGA Member Development Charter review of 3 local authorities.Delivered a number of online projects for Design Stage Ltd, leading the design and development of websites for the company’s clients.

Appointed Executive Board Member, with cabinet-level responsibility for Children and Adults Social Services in Cardiff. This is the Lead position within the directorate, overseeing a £135m budget, a workforce of 3500 and a management team of 33 people. Reported to the Leader of Cardiff Council.As part of this role, appointed as Board Member for Care Council for Wales and Deputy Spokesperson for Social Services - Welsh Local Government Association.Also appointed Chair of several strategic bodies including Cardiff Health Alliance, Cardiff Children and Young People's Partnership, Cardiff and Vale Integrating Health and Social Care Programme Board, WLGA Annual Council Reporting Framework Programme Board, WLGA Social Services Policy Group, and the Social Services Improvement Agency.

This was a full time position until 2004, providing web design services to various organisations. In 2004, maintained a position with the company on a freelance / ad-hoc basis.
