Project Manager And Scientist
Mr. Downing is a Senior Scientist and Project Manager. He joined Stone & Webster and went through the S&W ownership transitions to Shaw Group, CB&I and more recently to Westinghouse. During the Westinghouse bankruptcy, he separated from Westinghouse and started John Downing Consulting LLC. He has responsibilities as environmental scientist, statistician, licensing and permitting specialist and manager of a variety of projects. Much of his experience is with steam electric generation, hydropower, and gas and electric transmission. He also has related technical and project management experience with research projects, soil, sediment and water remediation, water and wastewater treatment and large Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD) projects.In addition to this diverse technical experience, he is also active in business development, identifying and leading capture of new opportunities, developing annual Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threat analyses for specific business sectors and acting as an active seller/doer in multiple sectors and for specific clients.
