Being asked to be part of the Pre-Opening Team, I was directly involved in the development and implementation of all Front Office training material. My duties also included the screening, hiring, and ultimately the day-to-day management of all Front Desk staff both before and during regular hotel operations. I also frequently assist other departments as needed, working closely with, and sometimes in, the Housekeeping, F&B, and Valet departments to improve guest satisfaction whenever possible.

Due to continuing success at the Front Desk, I was promoted from amongst my peers to Supervisor. Regular duties included creating schedules, organizing team-building activities, coaching associates, and interviewing potential employees. I was Manager-On-Duty for the majority of my shifts and worked to improve inter-departmental communication during my time at the hotel.

To expose myself to the Lodging Industry, I took a position as a Front Desk Agent at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown which, during my time there, was awarded Classic Luxury Hotel of the Year by Marriott. While there, I mastered the use of the OPERA, MARSHA, and GXP systems we used on a day to day basis, and was frequently asked to train new employees.

Initially hired as a server, I quickly became an established bartender, working in an upscale, popular, family-owned restaurant. Having shut down due to Hurricane Harvey, as they planned to reopen I was asked to come back as Head Bartender and helped develop a new bar program for the relaunch which included an entirely new cocktail menu featuring 20 original recipes.

I started at the Rainbow Lodge, a high-volume, historic restaurant featuring Texas wild game, an expansive Wine Spectator-recognized wine list, and a seasonally rotating list of 24 craft cocktails, to expand my knowledge of wine & spirits and to improve my skill as a bartender. While here I had the pleasure to serve very exclusive clientele and pour spirits that valued in the tens of thousands.

I was asked to help re-establish the bar program of the restaurant which included creating all bar procedures, re-organizing entire bar space and back-of-bar setup as well as the creation of marketing materials to help promote new business. While at Tularosa I also regularly served guests at the bar and trained all new bar staff.

Due to it's effective proprietary training and procedures, I enjoyed a lot of success while at Pappas Seafood House which was the most profitable location of it's concept in the company. Due to my performance, I was selected by management to become a Trainer and then Head Wait, which including responsibilities such as training other employees and high-volume cash handling.

Being a local, family owned and operated establishment, Italiano's allowed me the opportunity to create and refine my own approach to Hospitality. While here I learned many of the standards of food and beverage service including the serving of beer and wine, proper serving orders, efficient use of time, and proper communication with the kitchen and other staff.
