In 2010, John launched Restrepo Consulting and Development Group (RCDG). RCDG provides housing technical assistance and consulting services to groups interested in building subsidized housing.

- Completed the redevelopment of 87 abandoned sites that were repurposed as 200 units of affordable housing utilizing $45.8 million in private and public investments to provide quality housing that increased disposable income and wealth to address generational poverty for over 600 people. This included the rehabilitation of 67 foreclosed units, which received subsidy commitments prior to site control so that we can secure a $1.75 million line of credit to close on acquisition within 30-45 days. Created 43 permanent supportive housing units for the chronically homeless. Provided housing opportunities in Jersey City, Union City, Bayonne, Harrison, Kearny and West New York. - Created a homeownership program that served local residents through the new construction and rehabilitation of 72 homes (137 new units). The outcomes included buyers with an average household income of $49,000 (71% AMI). Over 85% were local residents, 96% minority households and 39% single parent households. The average sales price was $226,000 with values averaging $568,000 as of March 2021, creating over $340,000 in equity per household with at least $500 in monthly disposable income each.- Visionary behind the creation of the “I Love Greenville Community Plan”. Secured the necessary resources and support to complete and implement a neighborhood plan for a 40 block distressed area. The process included the involvement of over 500 residents, buy-in from the Mayor’s office, City Council, and administrators in key departments. The process also included the creation of a Steering Committee of local resident leaders to oversee the implementation of the plan. GSECDC provides guidance and financial management to comply with funders. The result included over $2.7 million in financing in 6 years to carry out 22 units of affordable housing, entrepreneurial services, youth programming, senior services, and arts programming. GSECDC secured over $400,000 in administration fees.

Responsible for new construction of 17 single family homes for first time home buyers and the gut rehabilitation of a historic multifamily structure for 12 rental units in Newark's North Ward.
