Mr. Runnells is a General Partner of The Vertical Group, a leading firm engaged in health care investment. He has over thirty years of experience in the fields of law, asset management, and regulatory affairs. Prior to his affiliation with The Vertical Group in 1991, Mr. Runnells was a general partner of Paddington Partners, a firm engaged in special situation investing, including public health care equities. Prior to that time, Mr. Runnells was a partner with the law firm of Webster & Sheffield. Mr. Runnells has served in board or advisory roles in a number of portfolio companies of The Vertical Group covering a wide range of medical technology including: spine; sports medicine; arthroplasty; urology; neurology; dentistry; and biomaterials. Mr. Runnells received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University where he was a Captain of the football team, a two time NCAA Academic All-American, and an NCAA Scholarship winner. He received a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. He also served as an officer in the United States Navy for four years.
