I started in Powell Foods. We ran bottles and cans for Welchs and Ocean Spray. In the winter we ran jam and jellies. After that I had experience in dry packaging for Shredded wheat and cereals. Then I went to Brights Wine as Maint. Supervisor and safety committee chair. Then lead Hand at Potters Distillery. After that I was a service rep for Continental Can. I put the first set of non interlock toolage on a 450 seamer in Quaker Oats pet food plant. Crown bought CCC and Carnaud Metal Box. CMB developed Superend for beverage cans and I installed it on the Labatts seamer in London. It at the time I retired was the fastest running 12 head seamer in North America. We used to run 1725 cpm with a 92% efficiency. It was a great line. I worked on the seamers in Heinz in Leamington and went from claims of 300,00 a year for bad cans to no claims by updating seamers and installing better toolage. That is just a small amount of what I accomplished during my time as a service rep. or traveling mechanic and seam expert.
