The Stills' estates, now understood to contain 95 percent of the artist's oeuvre, were completely sealed off from public and scholarly view for more than thirty years from 1980 to 2011. Today, in strict accordance with the artist's wishes, the Clyfford Still Museum houses and exhibits, in turns, all of it—825 paintings, more than 2,300 works on paper, and approximately 50,000 archival objects—as the world's most intact public collection of a major American artist. Located within the Golden Triangle Creative District of downtown Denver, Colorado, the Museum was designed by Allied Works Architecture, which received the 2013 Design Award, 2012 Honor Award, and 2012 Craftsmanship Award from regional chapters of the American Institute of Architects for the project.
