The Concept for C-SPAN was formed over lunch one day in July 1977 in Arlington, VA with C-SPANS' founding CEO and myself as way to open Government up, specifically the US House of Representatives with the US Senate following suit in 1986.-Board member since C-SPAN's founding-Executive Committee Chair 1991-1993-Chair Finance and Audit Committee 1996-2020•Recommend the appropriate level of C-SPAN financial reserves and oversee the reserve’s investment strategy and policy. •Review the annual operating budget and long term plan including rate increases with recommendations to the executive committee and board•Approve the annual audit, IRS Form 990 and IRS 401B filing•Implement a long-term approach to C-SPAN investments•Review C-SPAN’s digital preservation plans to ensure the content is preserved for the next generation •Review C-SPAN’s Enterprise Risks and Disaster Recovery Plan•Oversee internal audit processes, procedures and policies with the help of outside auditors McGladrey•Oversee C-SPAN’s whistle blower policy and implantation ( I receive monthly reports form our 3rd party service provider for whistle blowers)•Provide advice and council to senior management when appropriate•Review in concert with the compensation committee and management long term financial implications of retirement and health plans

I am the sole Industry Representative on Internet2's Board of Trustees see www.internet2.edu. I also serve on the Finance and Audit Committee. Internet2 operates a 17,000 mile 8.8 Terabit/Sec Fiber backbone connecting over 200 research Universities and international Research & Educational networks

The Digital Preservation Network (DPN) was formed to ensure that the complete scholarly record is preserved for future generations. DPN uses a federated approach to preservation. The higher education community has created many digital repositories to provide long-term preservation and access. By replicating multiple dark copies of these collections in diverse nodes, DPN protects against the risk of catastrophic loss due to technology, organizational or natural disasters. See www.dpn.org.
