I retired after serving for 35 years as a pastor in The United Methodist Church in the North Alabama Conference. I have served appointment where I had more than one Church. My first appointment I had three Churches and another appointments I had two Churches. No matter how many or where we served I tried to Christ and Him only and His love is what I hoped I shared with each and every Church member. I learned a great deal from my Church members. Worked on Military Aircraft in repairing & maintaining the airplanes of the USAF. I reached the level of B sheet-metal man and only the A sheet-metal mechanics were higher paid. They were usually the older personnel who had been at the plant for a long time. The difference between the two depended on the ability to pass a test that the Company devised. The pay was almost the same and the responsibility was a hard one.I was trained to use the drill motor,rivet gun which we used replace pieces of the airplane that needed replacing. One person would use the rivet gun and drive the rivets through that holes that been drilled in the metal to hold the metal together. The other person would use a metal bar to buck or hold the bar so that would flatten enough to withstand the pressure of the plane flying at the high heights and to withstand the shaking the plane went through.I enjoyed working at Hayes and worked with many a good sheet metal men: Bill Watson,Mr. Guthrie,[ he was a Baptist preacher and he was the first person to witness to me about The Lord Jesus ] and many others whose names I have forgotten but not their faces or who they worked with me.Thank God for the opportunity to make a living until the Lord could call me into the ministry.
