In 2019 I took six months off after winding things down with my position as Asset Manager/Senior Director for Westcore Properties' Metro Denver portfolio. While I know that not everyone can afford to take an extended period of time off, I can't say enough about the experience for me and how I benefited from it. Taking a step back to evaluate where you have been and where you want to go is both refreshing and exhilarating! On a personal note, I spent a good portion of my time away planning and completing a thru hike of the Colorado Trail. Too much to possibly share here, but ultimately it was the most amazing adventure and personal accomplishment I have experienced outside of being Dad to my two wonderful daughters.I have over 30 years of commercial real estate experience, inclusive of brokerage, asset management, acquisitions, and dispositions. I started my career with CB Commercial (now CBRE) in the early ‘90s as an office leasing broker focusing on the southeast Denver submarket. I then moved to the principal side of the business and was the in-house leasing Director for Mack-Cali Realty, a New Jersey based REIT which owned a portfolio of suburban office and office/flex assets in Metro Denver and Northern Colorado Springs of approximately 1M SF. When Mack-Cali sold their Colorado assets to San Diego based Westcore Properties, my Denver team of 7 and I joined Westcore and opened their Denver office. During my 12-year tenure with Westcore my responsibilities included managing the office where I oversaw leasing, asset management, acquisitions and dispositions for a portfolio that grew from approximately 1M SF to more than 1.6M SF while adding several industrial properties to the overall portfolio. In late 2018 Westcore began selling these assets and wound down their Denver operations. I stayed on with Westcore as a consultant handling the oversight of several legacy assets while also spearheading a Starbucks development for Westcore on Colorado Blvd. After taking several months off, I joined Flywheel Capital as a Senior Director and was recently promoted to Managing Director overseeing leasing, asset management, acquisitions, and dispositions for the firm.A proud CU Buff, I migrated to CU Boulder to attend college in the late '80s from the San Francisco Bay Area where I grew up and I've called Colorado home ever since. I am the father of two daughters in their mid-20s and enjoy the outdoor Colorado lifestyle which includes skiing, backpacking (completed the entire 486 mile Colorado Trail in late summer, 2019), hunting and fishing.
