I think of myself as an entrepreneur, a leader, a trusted team member, a business builder, a tough competitor, and a good listener. I love building things, while nurturing and developing talent and brands. I love to see people I work with win, while they grow. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with so many talented people to build an industry leader at Annie's, and now have the opportunity to do it again and even bigger and better at Once Upon A Farm. I've learned from countless mistakes made along the way. I like to have fun, to laugh, and to do and build things that will last, and make a difference. I want to leave the world a better place than when I came into it, for my four kids and the planet we all share. Impact, people, relationships and fun are all more important to me than money. What's particularly important to me? Building a culture that encourages creativity, innovation, willingness to risk failure, deep partnerships, doing the unexpected, operational transparency, a sense of humor, and bringing out the passion in others. My most important values? Honesty, and always trying to do the right thing, even and especially when no one is looking. Specialties: Specialty, natural, and organic food space.

CeoAnnie'S Inc. Aug 2004 - Oct 2014Berkeley, Ca, UsAnnie's was founded in 1989 to make a difference, to do business in a sustainable and socially responsible way while making great tasting and clean alternatives for families. If we could be successful we'd encourage others to do the same, and greatly broaden our social and health impact. Our social mission was infused into the brand DNA from the beginning, which was the real genius. It's a serious mission, but a not so serious brand...come on, our mascot is a bunny rabbit...we have fun. We built a great company by being close to our consumers. I found Annie's in 1999, and we grew together from a small company with about $7MM in revenues, into one of the leading players in the natural products industry. Over this time frame, my team and I accomplished many things:- Led Annie's growth and expansion from a single category brand (mac and cheese) into a dominant multi-category player in meals and snacks, with broad distribution across the natural, grocery, club and mass channels of trade. - Acquired Annie's Natural's dressing and condiment brand in 2005.- Grew revenues to approximately $250MM per year currently, with a balanced formula of distribution growth, velocity growth, and innovation. - Led Annie's initial public offering on NYSE in 2012 raising $90MM. - Over the following two years we completed two underwritten secondary offerings and one block trade to monetize for our PE partner Solera Capital.- Significantly expanded operating profitability, from break even in the mid 2000's to upper-quarter of large public company peers. - Led the sale of the business to General Mills in October 2014 for $820MM, a valuation of approx. 4X revenues, and >30X EBITDA.Annie's remains an authentic brand and business. We built it by adhering to important core values, building a culture rooted in honesty, integrity, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability. These are things our consumers care about, and they reward us with trust and loyalty. -
