Started Civil Engineering Career with what was then The State Electricity Commission of Victoria and worked in various capacities on the Dartmouth Power Station, the Morwell River Diversion for the Open Cut Brown Coal Mine for the Morwell Power StationsFrom there completed a Master of Science at the University of Aberdeen in the UK with a Commonwealth Scholarship and then served at a Lecturer The University of Ballarat, Department of Civil and Mining and then launched in to private consulting engineering out of Swan Hill and Mildura in Victoria.This led to an interest in politics and the need for the implementation the Piping of the Wimmera Mallee open channel stock and domestic water supply system. This was finally completed over 16 years under John's urging as the Federal Member for Mallee. The completion of this project at the time was the largest water supply scheme in Australia at the time.John Served as the federal member for Mallee from 1993 to 2013In semi retirement John now serves as the Director of John Forrest & Associates involved in consulting engineering
