John Friebele is the Executive Director of Destination Bryan, a 501(c)(6) destination marketing organization (DMO) for Bryan, Texas. He believes in delivering positive economic and social impacts to a community through the power of tourism as well as developing a sense of community through the engagement of residents and visitors. As Executive Director, he serves as the government and community liaison and tourism industry advocate while overseeing the day-to-day business operations of the organization. Additionally, he looks to build partnerships that will bolster Bryan as a destination and lead to healthy and positive impacts through tourism. He also oversees the marketing, sales, and promotions strategies of the organization. Prior to joining Destination Bryan, John was the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Experience Bryan College Station (EBCS) and was responsible for overseeing the execution of the organization’s sales development and marketing efforts. Prior to this role, John served in several positions with EBCS, primarily in the sports sales market. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in 2010 and a Master of Science in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Sciences in 2019 from Texas A&M University. He currently serves on the board of the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus and the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley, is a member of the Small Destination Organization Subcommittee and Membership Committee with Destinations International, holds a Texas Destination Marketer designation and Certified Sports Event Executive certifications, has begun the Certified Destination Management Executive certification with DI, and was a recipient of Texas Travel Alliance’s 4 Under 40 in 2020.
