I've also performed several other reactor services across the country including current trace testing, CRDM diagnostics, and replacements of reactor protection systems. I am actively supporting radioisotope production, incore instrumentation development and troubleshooting, and AP300 IIS development. I started my own lawn mowing business when I was 15. This allowed me to work approximately 20-25 hours a week while taking the highest level classes offered at Karns City High School and participating in extracurricular sports and clubs year round. It became very successful, and I was able to triple the size of the business to 25 weekly clients in three years. My clients, ranging from private residential yards to businesses and county run buildings, expressed high satisfaction with my work.… Show more I started my own lawn mowing business when I was 15. As a research fellow for the Toshiba-Westinghouse Fellowship Program, I conducted research on nuclear materials alongside Dr. Marek Flaska (Assistant Professor at Penn State University). My specific project focused on developing a composite fast neutron detector using scintillation material to detect radioactive material at security checkpoints. MCNP simulation software provided by Los Alamos National Laboratory allowed me to perform efficiency tests on the proposed design. My specific project focused on developing a composite fast neutron detector using scintillation material to detect radioactive material at security checkpoints. MCNP simulation software provided by Los Alamos National Laboratory allowed me to perform efficiency tests on the proposed design. A large majority of my work focused on the implementation of wavelength shifting plastic to eliminate photon reabsorption. During this fellowship, I was fortunate enough to work with 9 other undergraduate students from universities across the country with disciplines varying from engineering, physics, mathematics, and radiological science.
