He has deep insight into Order to Cash and Purchase to Pay workflows in a high volume, low margin wholesale business. He has served on the BIC (UK Standards body) Operations Board for several years, advising on the needs for Book Supply Chain. He chaired two BIC Groups which successfully delivered the BIC Realtime API standards, first for trade and more recently for Libraries. These standards are used across the sector by Waterstones, Wordery, Bertrams, Gardners and many more. In the Library sector the project has been endorsed by 18 Gold level partners. He has a special interest in Website performance, scalability, availability, conversion optimisation and SEO, using tools & services including GSC, GA, Yoast, SerpStats, Eggplant (Load testing & monitoring) and NCC (Pen tests and ethical hacking).He took over Dawson Era when it was struggling to host 100K books and put together a small highly focused and talented team to stabilise and grow the platform. It now has over 800,000 titles available to read online, frequently operates at a million plus page views per day, supports DRM protected downloads with 100% availability and sub-second response times. Over the last few years he led the upgrade to the back end making it elastic so that it can scale dynamically, reducing operating costs by over 40% whilst improving service.A certified PRINCE2 Project Management & Lean Agile Scrum Master with an outstanding track record of delivering projects within time, cost and quality constraints. He is also certified in ITIL Service Delivery. He is certified in TOGAF Enterprise Architecture and member of the British Computer Society, and has taken a number of CPD courses in Systems and Data Security.John has presented at industry conferences including the London Book Fair, Frankfurt Book Fair and IBM Tech Days on the use of IT to drive supply chain optimisation and improved customer service. His focus now is on management, leadership, change, architecture, digital transformation and strategy.
