As a Design/Quality Engineer I am involved in many concurrent projects. Many of which involve improving current product production processes to reduce variance in end product. This involves testing of products at all stages of production to find descrepancies at source. In conjunction with testing current products, I am also heavily involved in product development and new product qualification. This involves fault finding and improvement of most recent design. Another large part of my role involves design of new parts and products. This involves generating ideas to solve problems, producing prototypes of parts and products, seeking approval of design, designing individual parts for manufacture, and testing of parts and products for qualification. In all these areas I am heavily involved in communication with all areas of production of the products, involving design team, tool makers, moulding, metal fabrication, quality, maintenance and assembly.

Subjects – Validation & Regulatory Affairs, Medical Device Design & Analysis, Lean/Six Sigma, CAD & Analysis, Medical Device Manufacture, Anatomy & Physiology, Biomaterials, Basic Principles of Medical Device Design, Project Management & Innovation.Partook in numerous projects requiring innovative ideas to address project briefs, including, Novel Finger Splint Design, Needle-stick Injury Prevention, and Post-Operative Tele-Rehabilitation Monitoring Device. The later being the main project for the course work, which included the following;Aim: To design and build a prototype device to remotely monitor a patients’ progress through rehabilitation post anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery. • Researched knee anatomy, statistics of surgery, similar products, sensor technologies.• Consulted with physiotherapists regarding device design and results feedback.• Developed a game, using LabVIEW, for the patient to interact with while performing exercises. • Developed a physiotherapists results feedback programme using Microsoft Excel. • All parts of the device and software were inter-connected so that the patients’ exercise adherence was automatically recorded and graphed for the physiotherapist to view.• Bio-compatibility, large scale manufacture, and industry regulations were carefully considered.• Completed final prototype which delivered on all aspects of the design and user requirements.• Delivered several presentations to academic staff.All projects were group projects, in all projects I produced imaginative and applicable designs which were selected to progress the project to a very satisfactory conclusion.

Managed the installation of multiple types of seating units including theatre, lecture hall, debating chamber, pool side, and retractable units. This involved site survey prior to commencing work, carrying out installation, carrying out maintenance on installed systems. Duties involved during installation included liasing with customers/contractors, active installation of system, problem solving, tuning of system to ensure correct working order (retractable systems), attention to detail to ensure final product asthetically pleasing as well as functional.
