CANES Computing Infrastructure sub-system lead. Duties include: technical consulting, requirements analysis, fleet support, virtualization and storage design, SAN engineering, and software integration & test.

CANES Computing Infrastructure Domain Lead. Principal storage designer and SAN engineer. System installation, integration, documentation, and test. Bare Metal Recovery and MAC-1 failover design/implementation on CANES & POR, including VMware SRM and EMC Networker. Remote and on-site support for complex system installation issues. Active DoD Secret Clearance and IAT-II Certification.

Tested Fibre Channel and Converged Network Apapters in data-center environment. Verified drivers and management applications for complete functionality with Enterprise Class Linux operating systems. Worked with diverse O/S teams to certify interoperability with OEM hardware and firmware.

Develop and execute test plans for innovative data reduction product. Administer a VMware ESXi cluster of six servers hosting over 100 virtual machines. Operate the VMware vDR backup and recovery plug-in. Operate Symantec BackupExec servers. Monitor and maintain back-end storage. Administer Windows Domain Controllers (AD/DNS/DHCP). Troubleshoot network issues and maintain equipment. Create cron jobs for rsync backups.

Project lead for 4 years with responsibility for training and supervising junior engineers and technicians. Tested the hardware and software components of Physical Tape Libraries and disk based SAN/NAS products. Maintained Active Directory user accounts. Operated Symantec BackupExec servers. In-depth testing of Fibre Channel and iSCSI in a SAN environment, as well as direct attach SCSI and SAS. Training in SCSI architecture and commands. Used Finisar, Wireshark, and other analyzers to determine failure mechanisms at the protocol level. Used tools to issue and verify SCSI command/response for standards compliance. Tested CIFS and NFS on SnapServer NAS devices via Linux clients. Wrote and executed test scripts (Perl/Bash/DOS) as required. Wrote Perl scripts to parse and extract data for performance/failure analysis. Participated in several proof-of concept projects, including data-reduction, off-site replication, and constant data protection.
