I am responsible for facilitating improvement activities, predominantly productivity improvement in the machine shop, assembly and test areas. I work as part of a team to improve quality, flow and efficiency. I am also involved in costing exercises for new product introduction. My work involves project management, lean methodologies, problem solving, kaizen, line balancing, the core tools and introduction of standard work.I have experience of leading cross functional teams consisting of team leaders, quality, maintenance and production engineers.I have run exercises to ascertain the feasibility of producing new product at KPMUK. Comparing to existing manufacturing processes, estimation investment costs, and potential profit margins and highlighting any risks.I reduced and have sustained to date a test failure rate from 7% to less than 1%. I have also set up the same system in other product areas.I am currently developing plans for a new assembly line, test stands & paint plant to include automation, vision systems, electronic SOP’s using PFMEA’s to ensure the correct level of process control is introduced to the line.I recently visited Kawasaki Precision Machinery Japan were I studied manufacturing, kaizen and the Kawasaki Production System.

I worked with hydraulic pumps, motors and valves in both the Mobile and Industrial market. I provided technical product support to customers, the sales team and internal staff. Managing projects with high profile OEM customers from conception to completion including technical calculations, providing prototypes, commissioning, testing and sign off fit for purpose. Customer visits throughout Europe were also part of my role. I also created test specifications, assisted in the development of PFMEA’s, worked with hydraulic circuit diagrams and produced approval drawings using PQ diagrams and assisted customers in the selection, specification and operation of KPM products.Design calculations – Relating to hydraulic pump and motor specification including duty cycles, shaft torque loading, bearing life, optimising power settings to maximise hydraulic system efficiency.Customer liaison – Working with OEM customers and distributors supporting new projects from concept to completion, prototype development and testing, overseeing commissioning and application sign offs.Technical support to sales managers – Visiting customers with sales managers to provide technical support, product selection for specific applications and solving customer concerns.Developing new business areas – Applying KPM products in new applications and working to promote new products to customers including market appraisals.NPI – Involved with start-up of the New Product Introduction system and running NPI projects.6 month working in the Kawasaki Japan design office – I spent my time working in the design and R&D department learning about detailed product design.Training – I regularly ran product training for customers and distributors.Detailed reports – As part of my role I would produce professional visit reports.
