One of two founding directors of BookF1.com Ltd. The company is an internet based company whichprovides tickets on an agency basis to individuals and organisations for all Formula 1 events worldwide. As a founding director of this company I have been involved in all aspects of the development of a small business from its initial incorporation with zero working capital through to an annual turnover of approximately £2m. Since the company was incorporated it has been managed by myself who was in charge of the overall business, financial and all other ad hoc roles, and a fellow director whose role was the technological development within the company. My main duties included;- Annual Corporation Tax production and submission to Inland Revenue- Companies House compliance including production and submission of Annual Accounts under FRSSE and relevant UITF’s- Production and submission of the quarterly VAT return- Company payroll - including submission of all statutory returns such as PAYE, NI and P11d- Full financial and treasury role with management of;- Company cash flows- All bank accounts, including Euro and USD accounts complete with monthly reconciliations- Forward contracts for currency accounts- Accounts payable and receivable- Merchant accounts in GBP, EUR and USD- Production of routine and ad hoc financial statements and reports for stakeholders such as banks and merchant account providers- Main point of contact for all compliance matters for all stakeholders (commercial and Government)- Maintaining and developing contracts with all current and future suppliers- Design and streamlining of a single fully integrated front end to back end system which incorporated (to name but a few) accounting, customer account, customer orders, supplier anddispatch functionalities- All other ad hoc duties involved with the day to day management of a company

I joined the Market Reporting team at Lloyd’s of London which is the central department for the collection and distribution of the Lloyd’s market financial reporting requirements, mainly at a syndicate level. Within this role I completed my supervised accounting experience for my ACCA studies. My duties included;- Assisting in the collection and analytical review of data from various market returns to assist withthe statutory reporting requirements, such as the Annual Report/Financial Statements and Lloyd’smarket report to the Stock Exchange- Detailed analysis of syndicate results for inclusion within the Annual Report such as segmentalanalysis on a consolidated basis- Review of returns submitted to Lloyd’s by syndicates and investigation into areas of anomalies andunusual trends- Assisting in the production of a Quarterly Business Review which has a circulation to seniormanagement and external sources- Point of contact for a Lloyd’s market query mailbox which allows Syndicates and Managing Agentsto ask a question on Lloyd’s accounting rules and other accounting rules / legislation which wouldassist them in the production of their financial submissions to Lloyd’s- Review of quarterly and annual syndicate returns to make sure they meet requirements of Lloyd’saccounting policies and UK GAAP- Analysis of capital requirement for regulatory solvency return and statement- Assistance in the compilation of the Lloyd’s FSA return- Key involvement with development and testing during an implementation/transitional period ofLloyd’s reporting systems which involved some very key changes in the needs to both accounting policies and data requirements – namely from a 3 year accounting structure to an annual accounting basis.- Combined ratio analysis by class of business with split between pure and prior years / IBNR Utilisation / Premium income by class of business- Submission of the provisional and final US Treasury filing to the US Treasury authority

As part of my degree I worked for IBM UK Ltd as an Integrations Accounts Assistant. I joined a newlyformed project team, which had the task to integrate the accounts of Lotus Developments into the accounts of IBM UK Ltd, from their acquisition in 1996. This was a very demanding and interesting role due to the many different accounting problems that arose. My main tasks included ledger and journal processing for various invoices, balance sheet and bank account reconciliations. Due to the magnitude of these companies, I dealt with a lot of people and customers worldwide on a daily basis to achieve my objectives.
