Experienced leader in non-profits organizations and government agencies, including high-impact stints as President & CEO of America’s Promise Alliance, Director of AmeriCorps, and President of Encore.org. I stepped down from America’s Promise in January 2020 to devote my time to advising organizations and leaders across a range of issues, including children and youth, national service and civic participation, and strengthening democracy. In addition to advising work, I serve as Chair of the Board of FoodCorps and a member of the Board of Leading for Kids. I live in Washington DC and am married to Katherine J. Klein, a Professor of Management and Vice-Dean for Social Impact at The Wharton School, and have two daughters, Nora and Lily.
