John Gow is a highly experienced Fire Investigator who has provided expert testimony in Fatal Accident Inquiries and criminal and civil court proceedings both in the UK and abroad. His work has seen him accepted as an expert in the United States of America. He has attended fire losses or given advice in his capacity as a public-sector fire investigator and as a Senior Investigator with IFIC Forensics.A skilled author of reports he has undertaken investigations on behalf of insurers, liability lawyers, solicitors and private clients. He is an experienced firefighter and incident commander having served 31 years with Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service. He has provided training in a wide range of fire related subjects at the service training centre in Glasgow. Over a period of four years, John also taught Marine Firefighting and Command and Control to ship’s crew and officers, utilising a live fire environment.John was the only Registered Forensic Practitioner for fire investigation in the Scottish Fire Service and was a speciality assessor for the Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners (CRFP). Currently a Director on the Board of the UK-Association of Fire Investigators (UK-AFI) John contrubutes to the ideals of the sharing of knowledge and improving education within the fire investigation community.During his service he attended the Fire Service College at Moreton in Marsh and has undertaken many specialist training courses in Fire and Explosion Investigation including the Advanced Post Blast Investigation course with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at Fort AP Hill in Virginia.An experienced Marine Fire and explosion Investigator, he has undertaken investigations involving serious and very serious marine casualties, on behalf of, underwriters, charterers and cargo interests. His experience includes Cruise ships, container ships, Ro-Pax, tankers, bulk carriers and pleasure craft.
