John Gregory is an architect and planner by background. He has won several awards for his innovative design work his approach to strategic asset management. For fourteen years he led technical policy and r&d teams in developing new systems and approaches to the management of a diverse and dispersed public housing asset base before establishing a consultancy, ”arclink”, in 2010. Since then, John has provided advice to government, not for profit and private sector organisations. This has included a Strategic Asset Management Plan for the NSW Aboriginal Housing Office, introducing a strategic asset stewardship approach in NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service and undertaking a similar exercise for the NSW Office of Sport. John has written several publications, including a history of public housing design, the Asset Standards and design requirements for Housing NSW. He has provided the theoretical basis and undertaken the modelling for a radically different maintenance regime that has now been introduced across the Housing NSW portfolio. John has introduced Housing NSW to asset performance indicators, constructed a predictive model and explored ways to better set market rent levels, ensure structural integrity of the property assets, introduce an integrated annual property inspection regime, improved asset planning and sought to improve the environmental performance of the portfolio.
