In my current role, I am the sole Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer on night-shift. Responsible for maintaining both Building and Machines of an ever expanding company that operates out of 2 sites here in Plymouth. I am still learning the job and have a way to go. This job is currently solidifying my understanding in multiple aspects of engineering.

As a Shift Etch Equipment Engineer, my responsibilities shifted to the carrying out Total Productive Maintenance, throughout the weekend, throughout nights, on 12 hour shifts. In this time, I'd be solely responsible for any due PPMs, any tool downs/faults, independant fault finding etc... I also leaned towards training my peers after an extensive 'handover' during the transition of passing responsibility of machine ownership. I was also added to the sites Emergancy Response Team adding to my already well rounded knowledge in Health & Safety.

As an Etch Equipment Engineer in the semiconductor industry, my expertise lied in the operation and maintenance of a variety of Wet and Dry Etch tools. At Plessey Semiconductors, I am a valued member of the etch division, responsible for a variety of functions including Isotropic and anisotropic etching, taping, dicing, back-grinding, and metrology tools. In my time as an etch engineer, I was responsible for many tools, including; Plasmatherm Versaline system (3x ICP 1x HDRF), AMAT P5000, Mattson Aspen 2, 3x EMU Technology’s VBT Systems, RENA 5-Tank Revolution Wetdeck, 3x ClassOne Technology’s Double Stack Trident SRDs, SAMCO UV-300HC, ESI-Semi E3511 Asher, Ultron UH114-8 Taper, Ultron UH104-8 Flood UV cure system, Ultron UH130. Through my expertise and ownership, the toolset's availability has never dropped below 90%. Moreover, my technical aptitude enables me to undertake critical roles in challenging production environments. With my understanding of the underlying mechanisms and intricacies of each key tool in our facility, I have written comprehensive risk assessments, optimized procedures, and planned maintenance schedules. As a result, the availability and performance of our department have been significantly enhanced.

As an Equipment Engineer, extensive experience has been gained in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various semiconductor systems. As well as a vast understanding of the several processes and intricacies involved with the manufacturing of semiconductors. These include MOCVD, Thin Films, Photolithography and Etching, including an appreciation for the equipment performance, tight tolerances, and high quality material production in a cost-effective, timely manner. Technical expertise includes analysis and interpretation of data, managing operational issues, and implementing solutions to improve system performance. Technical writing abilities include the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and investigative reports. As an integral team member, contributions have been instrumental in successful production cycles and research and development efforts, delivering outstanding results in challenging environments.
