Hello, my name is John Haddock and I am currently pursuing dual degrees in Economics and Statistics at the University of Florida. I endeavor to employ my research skills and desire to learn to pursue my interest in sports analytics and sports business. I gained research experience through my GSI (Global Scholars Initiative) project focusing on Basque nationalism that culminated 3 years of academic research and in person, Spanish language, interviews into a presentation and website database. I also gained sports analytics experience while researching projects for my sports analytics instagram page linked under the projects section of my profile.In my academic career I pursued the most rigorous course possible at my high school (Shorecrest Preparatory School.) I took a total of 10 AP classes and earned a weighted GPA of 4.55 on a 4.0 scale. I continued my intellectual pursuits outside of school earning a 35 on the ACT alongside success in a number of extracurricular activities. I spent 2 years volunteering as a math tutor at MASTR kids, an organization dedicated to closing the learning gap for underprivileged youth in Pinellas county Florida. I have earned certification in Python from Udemy. Additionally I participated in the Wharton Moneyball summer program learning about statistical analysis in sports analytics, during this time I learned to use R but have not yet mastered this language. I was accepted to the Honors Program at the University of Florida and have declared my interest in pursuing a degree in economics and another in statistics. I will be immediately starting research on sports analytics at UF with the Warrington business school. I am currently exploring options for internships in sports business, NIL research, investment banking or brokerage. Please feel free to contact me at any time.
