John Hand lives in Dublin with his partner and three children. Originally a student of Fine Art in Ireland, he took a circuitous route into film. Having traveled widely as a pavement artist for several years, also working a myriad of jobs in agriculture, as a painter decorator and eventually in film construction, he got involved in film making with students at the National film and television school at Beaconsfield while living in London in the early 1990’s. He brings a wealth of real life experience reinforced with a well informed aesthetic and design sense. This combined with his astute and intuitive response to character and story brings great depth, quality and beauty to his output.
