It including integrating our Hardware and Software from the IDC range into the platform as well as best of breed 3rd party solutions.Of special interest, was preparing the platform for a new major upgrade and innovation leap using the IDC TATTOO and IP STB's.The IDC "TATTOO" product, which allowed us to take the DVB-S2 ZUKU Video streams off the Satellite and convert into IPTV streams into the GPON networks in Kenya and Tanzania. Tracking shipments, deliveries, and integration meant a busy schedule, but a great experience.A great platform IDC built, really enjoyed my time as Project Manager, and a credit to Africa's innovation and foresight, Highly recommend ZUKU as a platform and company.

    I guided Sat-Ed innovative use of low cost VSAT for rural development with iPSTAR on solutions since inception. I led the teams for system integration and project management a number of innovative Pay TV solutions for the region. Sat-Ed sold a number of solutions for Pay TV, from CAS, Middle Ware, and Data casting solutions. Value of these solutions sold was over $20 Million US. I designed the Sat-Ed Digital Library for schools which proved to be an effective tool for rural schools to allow universal access to education. The system provided instant access to cached web sites, as well as Video on Demand for teachers. The concept was designed with the belief that teachers should be empowered buy ICT tools, and those tools be as simple an as eay to use as possible. With a simple TV remote, teachers could play short video clips that enhanced the lesson, such as chemistry lessons where schools had no chemistry sets. This has been extensively viewed and held as an example of successful ICT Integration by Rural Development professionals globally. I oversaw my teams aggregation over 2000 hours of compelling content for use in schools, Sat-Ed trialed the solution in a large number of schools in the South of Thailand. The project was surveyed by 3 independent third party Universities on behalf of the Ministry of Education of Thailand. The report was a glowing success for the system. At the same time I developed with my team the very successful “Sat-Ed Learning Café” concept. This is a ICT center for rural areas that immediately creates local employment, as well as being a portal for government and education, and encouraging and directly supporting local industry to use ICT tools from the local trained staff to build economic and job opportunities. Content for both solutions was developed locally, under John’s direction; this is part of the core success, as content should always be locally produced and key to the success of ICT platforms.
