John is an airborne surveillance and mission system specialist with broad experience in modification and support of special mission aircraft used for Border Protection, SAR, ISR and electronic warfare. Originally trained in radio at the Royal Australian Air Force School of Radio, Laverton, Australia. John went on to gain Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority qualification in the Radio, Electrical, and Instruments specialisations of the Avionics discipline. His experience spans from military fighters through to civil jet transports and commercial general aviation helicopters and aircraft including high performance executive jets. As a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer John understands the importance of safe, effective, and maintainable systems.John has also been involved with the design and development of both rotary wing and fixed wing un-crewed systems in the < 25 kg and < 150 kg classes. This experience included design, prototyping, manufacture, and flight-testing. John also has a working knowledge of the regulatory environment and requirements surrounding the operation of un-crewed systems.John has over 35 years of experience in radio communications, navigation, electro-optics, processors and radar system maintenance at bench and aircraft level. He has expertise in aircraft and mission equipment selection, operations, support, and associated contract negotiations. John has worked as part of teams responsible for bidding and winning significant airborne contracts providing services to the Australian Customs Service, Maritime Border Command, and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. John was technical lead for two of these contracts and helped lead the conceptual design, detailed design, system integration and delivery of the platforms and associated systems to the customer. John also has significant experience in commissioning and operating the long-term support arrangements required for these types of service contract.John has significant experience in taking customer and user requirements and blending them into effective and efficient airborne systems which have stood the test of time in long term performance-based contracts of national importance.
