Institutional relationship Director, Santander UniversitiesSantanderJuly 2007 – December 2015Shaping the strategy for the development of Institutional Relationships within the UK Higher Education sector, managing relationships with key high profile stakeholders within the sector and driving this through the management of the Santander Universities relationship team. From involvement in the set up and establishment of the division within the UK it was my responsibility to ensure the team identify and recognise new opportunities within the sector and proactively share this knowledge with the relevant corporate teams and divisions of the bank and Universities retail team.Leading the Relationship Management team, with the objective of establishing the credibility of the Bank within the UK Education sector.The role also linked UK HE institutions with our international teams and Universities across the globe, assisting with the promotion of central initiatives from within network countries, and helping to manage and facilitate contact and meetings between universities in the UK, and our partners, working at all times with the universities and recognising their strategic objectives. Commercially worked closely with the Head of Education in corporate banking to ensure awareness of business critical issues, identify new business opportunities, and provide support in submission of corporate tenders.

Cambridge, Herts, North And North West London

Joined Abbey as part of project team piloting and developing Abbey business Banking. Actively worked on implementation, testing and developing products whilst assisting the training of staff in how to deal with business through direct banking. Became team leader of the relationship team, in Cambridge and Home counties, establishing a large client portfolio, and guiding the team to provide excellent relationship banking through recognising the needs of the client and understanding their business. In addition to leading the team I was regularly involved in additional projects and new initiatives such as Banking code dissemination and implementation, and was part of team that carried out a due diligence exercise on a potential external mortgage book the bank was looking to buy.

Hatton Garden

Worked with a portfolio of 200 SME businesses many within the specialised area of Hatton Garden's Wholesale and Retail Jewellery community. This role needed a strong understanding of the clients specific banking needs including International trade, financial analysis and particularly the process and requirements of taking of security whether for short or long term lending. Many client deals were made on trust and word, so clients had to have confidence that as their manger I understood their individual requirements.
